Chicago Street Fashion - Song of Style

This weekend was a glorious one here in Chicago. The Randolph Street Market kicked off it's season and it was a veritable style parade. I got so many great street style snaps, like these of the lovely Aimee of the popular personal style blog Song of Style.

She was in town on her AMAZING flea market tour with Bar III Yes, that's right people, she's touring the countries best Flea Markets. Poor girl ;) She looks lovely here in these tropicalia shorts and white linen shirt. She was really fun to wander around the market with as we looked for some proper shade to take some photos in. FYI it was about 95 degrees with blazing sun when these photos were taken.

Be on the look out this week and next for more great style from Randolph Street Market.

Chicago Street Fashion - Designer Ashley Scott

Ashley Scott is the woman behind the incredibly cool accessories line Drapes. The last time Ms. Scott was on Très Awesome was almost a year ago to the day. Considering she's one of the most stylish people I know, we will see more of her this year than once every 365 days.
Ashley is wearing a Drapes necklace (of course!). We will be auctioning off some of Ashley's awesome at our Height of Fashion Fundraiser to benefit the film Sole Survivor. Come on down and get a piece of Drapes while supporting an interesting and worthy film.

This Chicago street style fashion was captured in Wicker Park.

Chicago Street Fashion - Millenium Park

Today I attended an over-the-top (and incredibly well produced) marketing event from Express at Millennium park. They set up a huge catwalk right in front of the Bean (or clouds gate as Anish Kapoor likes to call it) with the city of Chicago as the back drop. It was a big affair that was packed with people and presided over by the CEO of Express (a man with flowing white hair in an Italian suit) and one of the winners from Americas Next Top Model. While she has not turned out to actually be a top model, she was very nice and supportive of the young fans that came out to see her. Major points to Express for the luxe goodies in the gift bag. I will be instagramming them immediately. :)

Even with all that hoopla, the best style I saw in the park today was on this young lady, a makeup artist working behind the scenes at the show. She's able to make this most basic of outfits interesting and fresh, and those BRAIDS are out-of-sight!

Director Ky Dickens

Ky Dickens is currently making a film called "Sole Survivor" that explores the impact of survivorship on the human condition. The documentary follows the journey of George Lamson who, at 17 years old, survived the 1985 crash of Galaxy Airlines Flight 203, as he seeks to meet other sole survivors of aviation crashes. Fascinating right?! You can watch the trailer here.

I recently met up with Ky for a little street style action...

Ky looks adorable here in her jean on jean ensemble and cute green shoes. I love the bright laces she's threaded in.

I'm co-hosting a party to help raise funds for post-production of Sole Survior on May 29th. You'll get the chance to meet Ky, hang with fashion designer Maria Pinto, AND eat and drink your face off with delicious food and cocktails from Farmhouse. PLUS there will be designer cake pops from the delightful Cocomori.

You can purchase your tickets now here.

Height of Fashion Fundraiser

Join Maria Pinto, CS, and Très Awesome at Vertigo Skylounge at the Dana Hotel for a fundraiser to  help award winning Chicago filmmaker Ky Dickens' documentary "Sole Survivor" take flight (learn more about the film here)  The event is on May 29 and will feature craft cocktails and food from Farmhouse, delicious beer by Magic Hat, couture cake pops from Cocomori and a rad auction full of fashion and artistic delights. Chicago Street Fashion - Lynnette Astaire

I met Lynnette Astaire about a year ago through mutual friends who we ended up having dinner with. You know when you meet someone and you totally get them, in a way that seems implausible from just one evening. Well Lynette is that girl - crazy charismatic, smart, and FUN. She also happens to be an amazing photographer, artist and budding television host.

Lynette is wearing a mix of vintage and new. This is her mother's beehive rope belt.

How cool is this bondage inspired bracelet.

Here is the first installment of a travel show Lynnette is developing. First stop Chicago, of course!

The Lovely Ladies of Neiman Marcus

My relationship with Neiman Marcus is a complex one, full of longing, desire and ultimately a depleted checking account. Which is why I was thrilled when they asked me to do a little street style piece on their new Luxury Essentials line in exchange for a few pieces from the collection. All the glory and none of the monetary guilt :)

Janet is wearing a lux tank and blazer from the NM Luxury Essentials line with earrings by one of my favorite jewelery designers E by Elyse Marie Vieni. Have a look at the designer spotlight I did on her last year

Lovely Ela paired an NM Luxury Essentials white top with a fabulous skirt from The Row.

Jennifer is wearing a Theory blazer over an NM Luxury Essentials top with a rad vintage necklace and skirt of her own design.

TJ is wearing a NM Luxury Essentials cardigan over an Alexander Wang Dress with some fanstastic Valentino shoes.

Oh Valentino, you're slaying me. Have a look at a similar pair I shot on Mel Muoi last month.

All the NM Luxury Essentials items featured here are available at the store on Michigan Avenue as well as online.

Chicago Street Fashion - Ellen Grace

Lovely Ellen Grace is an intern at CS Magazine and an all around fashionable lady about town. Things I love about this outfit in ascending order are topknots, pocket watches, bright lips, small cube-like purses, silver shoes and mint socks. Ellen, you really hit it out of the park. Nice work lady.

Also, Ellen has a rad Tumblr (natch) check it out here.

Chicago Blogger Spotlight - The Wearist

Taylor Stat is the woman behind The Wearist. A delightful blog devoted to her insanely cool personal style and favorite sartorial things.

Taylor has been featured on this blog many times. Check out her choice shots below...

Taylor is obviously no stranger to a little pop of yellow.

Click on over to The Wearist to see even more snaps I've taken of Ms. Taylor. So many photos, so little time...

Madewell Comes to Chicago

This past Saturday Madewell rolled into town in a vintage Airstream packed with tons of great denim, cute accessories and rad people.

Jo is an event coordinator at the Madewell store in Old Orchard. How cute does she look here in her patterned pants and denim on denim action.

The Airstream trailer was decked out with tons of cool vintage cameras. So sweet.

They were handing out Madwell sunglasses in pink and blue. I couldn't decide so I got both colors.

How adorable is this trailer. Thanks to Refinery29 for the sweet shot.

I stopped by the cute shop City Blue in Old Town this weekend to hang with owner Mallory Ulaszek and snap some photos of her in these amazing Hudson Jeans.

Mallory is also wearing a chapeau from the lovely Christina Fan of C/FAN.
