White Mystery

Brother and Sister Rock Duo Alex and Francis White of the rad band White Mystery are no strangers to the pages of Tres Awesome as evidenced here. However this may be their best showing yet!

Between Alex's head for the border chic care of Alcalas (aka the best western goods shop in Chicago) and Francis's rafia tank created by their brother Nicholas James Alexander White.

You can catch White Mystery here in Chicago at Riot Fest on 9/15 or at the Chicago Cultural Center on 9/20. Not in Chicago?! Well you can check out their full touring schedule right here.

Your're Invited: Nellcote September Issue Brunch

Join me this Sunday for a delightful brunch at Nellcote (one of the most delicious joints around for such things). We will be screening the movie The September Issue, the documentary that follows Anna Wintour and Grace Coddington through the process of producing the fall issue of American Vogue.

We will have plenty of copies of the latest Vogue and other fashion mags to flip through while you sip your La Colombe espresso and munch on one of the many amazing things Nellcote has to offer from their Brunch menu.

Also if you've ever wanted to have your photo taken by Moi, this is your chance to be on Très Awesome, as I'll be there on hand with my camera. Remember dress to impress - or don't and just come for the food and company (after all it is Sunday!). See you soon!

April Francis

April Francis founder of Dose Market and all around stylish woman about town is seen here in a magnificent cape which she was wearing the first time I met her, at a Hermes event many moons ago. I have a serious memory for clothes, especially the good ones.

Here April is scene with fellow babe Chelsea Lavin.

These images were captured at the Phillip Lim for Target Shoot which went down last Friday. There are more stylish peeps to post so be on the look out throughout the rest of the week. ALSO check out our Facebook page (and like us, while you're at it) to check out more outtakes from the day.

Graham Kostic

Graham Kostic is the delightful host and creative director of the beauty and fashion site Glossed and Found. I captured this magical outfit at the Phillip Lim x Target Stylescape shoot that they helped organize last week.

I'll be posting behind the scenes looks from the shoot (all captured in the magical light beneath these here tracks) all week. So be on the look out for more fabulous style from your favorite Chicagoans.

Also check out outtakes from the shoots (and Like us!) on our facebook page.

Chelsea Lavin

ZOMG. How amazing are these photo?!? Answer very. Pardon my french, but Chelsea is rocking the fuck out of these suspenders. Taken at the Phillip Lim X Target photo shoot this past friday.  Look for more shots of the stylish peeps on set throughout the week.

Phillip Lim for Target Chicago Stylescape

If you haven't heard the glorious news, Phillip Lim is collaborating with Target on a cheap and chic collection that will be available to one and all on 9/15. To get people excited about the collection this past Friday Chicago's most stylish (as curated by the rad blog Glossed and Found) gathered at the corner of State and Lake in their own fine duds to participate in one of the worlds largest panoramic cinemagraph (what the heck is that you may be asking yourself... well, it's just a really wide image that moves in select places).  The final composited image will be showcased at an interactive event at Fashion Week in early September.

Lights, camera, disco balls!!!! We get to see Helen Berkun stylist extroadinaire doing her thing in front of the camera. She is also a great photographer as proven by the two images above she captured with my camera.

The leather goods look VERY much like the real deal, so this is your chance to get a little piece of Phillip Lim without taking out a second mortgage on your home :) Here I am with one of my fave piece s from the collection - The Phillip Lim for Target BOOM sweater dress. Already an editorial fave this is sure to go quick.  Eva Daiberl of the blog Miss Renaissance holds up an orange animal print Phillip Lim for Target Dress that would look pretty gosh-darn-adorable on her.

Trey Berre of Artfully Disheveled and Ahmed Braimah clown around while waiting for their close-ups.  Luis Torres of the blog Chic Overload strikes a serious pose with his real McCoy Phillip Lim bag. And Jena Gambaccini of the rad blog Chi City Fashion is just plain over-joyed to be there ;)

Chelsea Lavin and stylist April Francis battle it out with their suspenders and perhaps the most adorable couple in the world DJ Matt Roan and Celebrity Makeup Artist Shannon O'Brien strike a graphic pose.

Never have balloons been taken so seriously by two pretty ladies. Mel Muoio and April Francis are straight up PROs.

Look for some pretty stellar portraits of all of the above throughout the week. They are just too beautiful to post in a round-up piece!!! Also check out ( and like!) our facebook page for more outtakes from the day.

AZEEZA Street Style Look Book

My friend and designer Azeeza Khan founder of luxury goods label AZEEZA asked me to help her document stylish peeps wearing her goods in honor of an event she is throwing with Refinery29 this coming Thursday (you can still RSVP here!) Of course I couldn't resist. Scroll through these babes and try not to drool all over yourself :)

Photographer Maria Ponce is wearing the AZEEZA embellished drop-hem dress (worn as a jacket), 1960 Gap pants, and Brian Atwood shoes. PS Maria's work is beautiful and can be checked out right here.

After I took this photo my camera exploded from cuteness. In all seriousness though, this is definitely the most adorable photo I have ever taken.

How gorgeous is Shea Marie of Peace Love Shea in AZEEZA?! Answer very. She was in town for Lollapalooza so she came down to AZEEZA's new location in the 900 shops and tried on some different looks. Keep your eyes open for more images of her in AZEEZA in the weeks.

I can not say enough wonderful things about this next blogger. Gabi Greg of the popular site Gabifresh is beautiful, kind and SO fun to work with. She's wearing the AZEEZA “Negovan” free size dress, AZEEZA embellished collar in black out and Forever 21 shoes.

Darling Jena of the fashion blog Chi City Fashion looks SUPER fly in this AZEEZA “Negovan” free size dress, Gucci shoes, Oliver Peoples Sunglasses, and Leather Baseball Cap.

Ohhh Michael Favia. Can we take a moment to talk about how fabulous he looks here in the AZEEZA Caviar Scarf (gunmetal embellished), Vintage Bulls t-shirt, Rick Owens jeans and Isabel Marant Sneakers.  Not only does Michael look great, he helped styled many of the looks and is a wonder on set. Talented AND beautiful (what a jerk :)

Jenn Lake PR maven extraordinaire looks gorgeous here in her AZEEZA Embellished Harness, Jill Sander skirt, and Brian Atwood Clutch. I love how the harness looks from the front and back!.

Another gem I got to meet on this project was the lovely Liz of the cool personal style and DIY blog Sequins and Stripes. She is wearing the AZEEZA Tangent Dress in white vegan leather with Zara shoes.

Last but certainly not least we have Yewon Kim of the cool blog Girl Sack. She may go down in history as one of the easiest people to shoot of all time. Seriously every photo I took of her was great. She is also wearing the AZEEZA “Negovan” free size dress, American Apparel hat and
Cole Haan shoes.

Check out the whole story over at Refinery29 and see more photos of these gorgeous clothes and peeps.

Impressionism, Fashion, & Modernity - Art Institute of Chicago

If only every Sunday could be as lovely as the one I had yesterday. It started early with a private tour of the new exhibition at The Art Institute of Chicago, Impressionism, Fashion, and Modernity which explores the Impressionists painters relationship to the style of the day.

Courtauld Institute Galleries, London
These are two of the iconic pieces from the show. Above Renoir's Opera Box and below Manet's, The Parisienne show how integral the costumes and clothes are to the overall work of art.

The tour and brunch that followed included some of my favorite people in Chicago, like the lovely Whitney Middleton Gruber of E-Drop Off rocking this AMAZING Great Gatsby look, like it ain't no thang. See more photos that my delightful partner in crime Scott Drasler took on Facebook.

One of the really cool thing about the exhibit is the way that they juxtapose paitings with the historical garments they reference, like these lovely hats and the beautiful Degas painting The Millinery Shop.

Speaking of hats, our lovely host Jean Paul Brunier of the blog Impressions and Fashion and Alex White of the radical band White Mystery bonded over their chapéus between courses.

Okay can we please talk about this get up that Jessica Murnane of One Part Plant is wearing, inspired by "a spanish funeral".  I think I'm in love.

Swathi Narra co-founder of the incredibly cool fashion company Luxemi is looking fly in this beautiful frock.

Seth Putnam of the The Midwest Style is ready to get down to business with his Field Notes journal. love a man who understands the color wheel enough to make a contrasting color play :)

And finally we have the Mel Muoio looking positively oceanic with her jelly fish dress and vintage sea shell clutch.

This exhibition has been extended through September 29th, but that will be here before you know it, so hurry up and go! Also just because you didn't make it to this fabulous brunch doesn't mean you can't view the exhibition in style.

The Museum has a program called Saturday Evening Viewings with 4 dates coming up througout August and September with dress up themes like "Flowers in your Hair" and "Sheer and Summery".  Having just seen the show with a festively dressed group of people I highly recommend going this route.

Beast Patrol at Lollapalooza 2013

I met the members of Beast Patrol backstage at Lollapalooza last Saturday, having played the fest earlier that day. They are charming, sweet and VERY talented.

Have a listen to the song Plaster and see for yourself.
