Chairlift at Pitchfork Music Festival 2013

One of my favorite shows of Pitchfork 2013 was the Brooklyn based synth duo Chairlift, comprised of Caroline Polachek and Patrick Wimberly.

I caught up with Caroline backstage just as she was about to go on, looking out of this world in a a pair of modified scrubs, a gorgeously creative dye job and geometric eye makeup.

How amazing is this outfit. I love the thin ribbons around Caroline's wrists. Perfect for dancing and reminiscent of something clinical like bandages (or maybe a straight jacket ;)

Caroline has the most beautiful ethereal voice. I heard her doing crazy warm ups backstage to be able to hit the notes on songs like Amanaemonesia (listen below).

Caroline and Tom Hines directed this weird and beautiful video which consists of Caroline doing some stripped down modernist dance moves and at times hilarious hand gestures cut in with sweet drawings of Patrick Wimberly. Definitely worth a watch.

Also, the fabulous Devonte Hynes of Blood Orange was on hand backstage.

Big thanks to my partner in crime Scott Drasler for taking the concert shots and this amazing photo of Dev and Caroline. Love you bunny.
